TOP CAREER FIELDS

Let's fact it...people have been trying to predict the future since the beginning of time!

But when it comes to trying to determine which occupations will hold the most promise in the near future, you want to try to remove the guesswork as much as possible. After all, if you make a mistake and choose the wrong career, you may pay dearly for the rest of your life.

Education Advisors spend a great deal of time doing their research when it comes to identifying the most promising careers. They cannot afford to be wrong when it comes to providing recommendations which will assist students gain entry to their chosen career. Imagine how disappointed a person will be if he spends time and money getting a diploma which is of no use.

Another important point to remember is that the present and future needs of local employers are of primary consideration when offering programs of study. All campuses, be they private or public, must spend considerable time analyzing local employment trends. This is important since most students who enroll in a post-secondary program hope to find employment close to home. Therefore, the diploma or certificate that the student earns must give that person an excellent chance of entering a career in a local company or organization.

Recent studies have shown that well over 80% of all occupations in the market today fall within one of  the following main career clusters.

BUSINESS CAREERS
The School of Business at private and public colleges and universities, for example, are committed to exposing students to the most relevant aspects of business operations, management, and practices, while providing the student with the tools required for a career in business. The business programs, therefore, are designed to provide you with the necessary tools to succeed in many facets of business. You will learn about the relevant aspects of your choice of a wide variety of business areas that will enable you to become an effective business professional. Regardless of which specific program in which you enroll, the business programs will enable you to gain positions in companies right across the country. Additionally, instructors must ensure that you will be prepared to open your own small business since that is what many young people are doing to get their start in a career today.

TECHNOLOGY CAREERS
Private and public post-secondary technology programs should prepare you to design, implement, manage and maintain computers and network  installations in organizations of all sizes, ranging from small firms with a single Local Area Network to global corporations with large Wide Area Networks spanning multiple geographical locations. This is one of the fastest growing, and at the same time, one of the fastest changing career fields of the modern era. Just about everywhere you turn, computers are affecting your life. People are needed to make these machines work to our advantage. You may like the excitement of always being on the frontier of new developments.

HEALTH CARE CAREERS
Health care will continue to be one of the fastest growing fields in the world, thanks in no small part to the aging Baby Boomers. With so much interest in these careers, the School of Health Care has become a very important section of many private and public career colleges.

The curriculum at these colleges is based on industry certification requirements determined by leading Canadian and American health care associations. You will learn the specific skills necessary to take part in a medical environment. If you enjoy making a difference in people’s lives, a career in health care may be just what the doctor ordered.

LAW & JUSTICE CAREERS
Careers in Law & Justice are wonderful goals for young people today.

Paralegals are in great demand, as they can perform many of the duties that lawyers have traditionally accomplished. Paralegals free lawyers for other duties, and are cost-effective for law firms and businesses.

Currently policing agencies in Canada have expressed concern regarding an aging police force. Current enforcement staff are accepting early retirement packages together with a number of current members who will require replacement by natural attrition. In order to maintain current levels of staffing, the hiring will be fairly aggressive. The OPP alone estimate recruiting over 250 candidates each year for the next 5 years.

The graduate is trained to pursue a career in the various policing agencies across Canada (Municipal Police, Provincial Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Military Police, Transportation Police, Private Police, University Police). Alternative career paths would include Customs and Immigration, Private Investigations, Custody and Correctional Officers, Agency officers for Federal and Provincial Government enforcing legislation, Bailiffs, University Police, Wardens, Security Officers, Parking Enforcement, Parks and Game Wardens, Court Services, 9-1-1- Operators, Loss Prevention Control,
