WHAT EXACTLY IS THE YOUNG COMMUNITY BUILDERS PROGRAM?

  • The “Young Community Builders Program of Greater Sudbury” is a youth-initiative that is being sponsored by Scotiabank and a number of prominent community-minded businesses, professional practitioners and public-sector organizations.

  • The program is being coordinated by Robert Kirwan, an Independent Education & Career Planning Agent who owns and operates The Greater Sudbury Learning Clinic.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE YOUNG COMMUNITY BUILDERS PROGRAM?

The Young Community Builders Program of Greater Sudbury has three main objectives:

First
To encourage students to participate in activities that will make their community a better place in which to live.

  • In order to accomplish this objective the Young Community Builders Program will seek to find corporate sponsors willing to provide funding to help cover the costs of special projects and activities involving young people currently attending elementary and secondary schools of the Greater Sudbury Area.

  • It is our belief that there are many corporate citizens in the community who would be more than willing to provide funding for projects and initiatives that will benefit in the development of our young people in elementary and secondary schools.

  • Therefore, The Learning Clinic is establishing a procedure which will help make sponsors aware of such opportunities that exist in our local schools and then facilitate the funding of these projects.

Second:
To showcase the accomplishments and achievements of exemplary students of the Greater Sudbury Area in order that others may also be inspired and motivated in fulfilling their own goals and objectives.

  • In order to accomplish this objective the Young Community Builders Program will publish photos and stories about the students who have become exemplary role models through the projects and initiatives in which they have become involved.

  • We are well aware of the fact that students in our elementary and secondary schools are engaged in all kinds of wonderful activities during the year. We want to showcase their accomplishments and achievements on this web site to how our "communal" appreciation for their efforts.

  • Their stories will be posted permanently in a special section of the Young Community Builders main web site where they can become a permanent source of inspiration to others who are following in their footsteps.

Third
To empower students and help them achieve their education and career goals.

  • In order to accomplish this objective the Young Community Builders Program will provide students with resources and information from our business and professional sponsors that will help them become more aware of the goods and services available within the City of Greater Sudbury that will help them maximize their learning potential and help them make wise decisions with respect to their education and career planning.

  • Our sponsors are very interested in helping young people realize their dreams and will be doing everything possible to empower students in this regard.
