It's
Time To Acknowledge The People Making
A Difference In Our Community |
|
The
Valley East Today Community Web Site has been created for one
primary purpose....TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE
MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Valley East Today is a "Living History" of
this rapidly growing community which is becoming quickly
recognized as one of the preferred regions of the City of
Greater Sudbury. As this web site grows, "one story at a
time", it will help develop an image and an identity that
everyone will come to know and accept as Valley East. At this time I am extending an invitation to the entire
community to join with me in this project.
Valley East Today is the "Window To Our Community"
and we will embrace information technology as our
communication vehicle. Thousands of people are already
receiving the Valley East Today Online Community News through
their email and this number is increasing every week. The
stories and special features about the people making a
difference in this community are being sent all over the
world, and many people thinking of moving to the Greater
Sudbury Area are checking out Valley East Today before making
their decision about where to live.
Valley East Today will continue to grow into a dynamic, ever-expanding web site,
expanding one story at a time. It will become a "Living History" of the
community that will slowly build and help develop an image and an identity that
everyone will come to know and accept as Valley East.
- When people want to know about Valley East, they will turn to the Valley
East Today Community Web Site.
- When people want to be kept "in the loop" they will register
to receive the Valley East Today Online News Magazine every week.
- When people want to express their opinion about something important,
they will speak to their neighbours through Valley East Today's Public
Forum and letters to the editor.
- When people want to recognize the accomplishments and achievements of
those who make a difference in our community, they will turn to Valley
East Today.
- And when they want to find out about the goods and
services that are available through local businesses, they
will turn to Valley East Today.
I encourage you to use this page as a
"springboard" to a vast network of web sites and web
pages filled with information of interest about the people,
places and events that are shaping our history and moving us
forward into a great future. Make sure you pay attention to
the goods and services that are being provided by the business
community of Valley East. They are the ones who are devoting
their lives to meet the needs of you and your family.
Welcome To Valley East Today!

- TO THE SCHOOLS: Send
me all the photos and stories you can about what is
happening in your school! I want to recognize the
accomplishments and achievements of our students, teachers
and parents who are so very much involved in the education
of our children;
- TO THE CHURCHES:
Send me stories and information about the wonderful things
your parishioners are doing in your religious community.
When visitors to this site want to find out about the
spiritual character of Valley East we want them to truly see
the fantastic things that are happening in our religious
sector;
- TO SPORTS, RECREATIONAL AND
CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS: Don't keep your
activities and events such a big secret. Send me photos,
stories and announcements so that I can let the "world" know
just how much is happening in Valley East. This is an
extremely dynamic community! Let's give people a taste of
what is going on in all corners of the town.
- TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONALS:
We have hundreds of businesses and individuals ready to
provide local residents with all of the goods and services
they would ever need. It is time to let residents know what
you offer, so please allow me to devote a section of this
web site exclusively to your business and show, through
pictures and text just what you have to offer. Let me tell
your story so that we can all recognize your accomplishments
over the years as you have established a successful business
operation and become a significant element of our community.

| The
Town of Valley East is located in the north end of the City of
Greater Sudbury. It consists of the communities of Val Caron,
Blezard Valley, Val Therese and Hanmer, as shown in the map to
the right. The Town of Capreol is just another 10 minutes
north of Hanmer. There are approximately 30,000 people living
in those combined communities. Valley East is divided up politically into two wards: Wards
5 and 6. Ward 6 consists of the communities of Val Therese and
Hanmer and has a population of about 15,000. Ward 5 has
approximately 10,000 residents.
When we speak of the Town of Valley East we tend to include
the entire community rather than to speak about one ward or
the other. Many people are finding that living anywhere in
Valley East provides one with the opportunity to enjoy a lifestyle conducive to country living
while still remaining close enough to the amenities of the
large city to the south.
FIRST DECISION IS ALWAYS 'WHERE' YOU WANT TO LIVE
It has been said that the first decision a person should
make before purchasing a house is WHERE they would like to
live. There is no point in living in a nice house if you don't
like the community. Therefore, before we even attempt to talk
to you about building a new house or purchasing an existing
one in Valley East, we want you
to be absolutely convinced that you would like to live in
Valley East. We feel that if you are satisfied that Valley
East will provide you with everything you are looking for in a
community, you will easily be convinced that your best choice
for a location for your home will be in either Val Therese or
Hanmer. Once you check out the alternatives, we are absolutely
certain that you will want to live in Valley East.

The growth of the retail sector in Valley
East
over the past several years has been truly amazing. Larger
corporations do their homework and they have all recognized
the growth potential of this area of Greater Sudbury. They
realize that a place like Valley East is exactly what people of today are looking
for. People would rather shop in smaller stores where they
know they will receive personal service and attention. They do
not want to battle the crowds and the traffic, but they do
want to receive the benefits of competitive pricing that one
normally finds in larger box stores. Valley East offers shoppers
an ideal solution to their needs. You have a mix of large
national chain stores that are just the right size: not too
big and not too small. This means that you get national
pricing with excellent selection. You also have a wide variety
of boutiques which offer unique styles and choices from which
to choose. Best of all, the time you save from not driving
into the city and from spending time in long line-ups at
larger box stores enables you to enjoy the quality of life
experiences you are seeking as a member of the Town of Valley
East. |

| The Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre is the 3rd
largest indoor shopping centre in Greater Sudbury. It is also
one of the very first indoor malls ever build in Northern
Ontario. This has
become the community centre, not only for retail and
professional services, but also for schools, churches,
organizations and groups wishing to increase their profile and raise
funds for their own activities. Just consider what you will
find, seven days a week, only minutes away from your doorstep when you
pull into the parking lot of the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre.
You can always find something to do at the Hanmer Valley
Shopping Centre. |

| The corner of Hwy 69N and Elmview Drive, which
is situated in Ward Six of Valley East, has clearly become the retail power
centre for the north portion of Greater Sudbury. Besides the
many stores that are found right in the Hanmer Valley Shopping

the area around the mall. |

When it comes to education for your children,
Valley East may very
well be the most
perfectly situated residential area in the whole of
Greater Sudbury. No other community offers you access to
such a variety of choices when it comes to the education of
your children. Besides that, there is bus transportation to a
number of schools in other locations in Sudbury for qualifying
students. This is everything a parent could ask for when it
comes to the future of your children. Quality of life and a
solid education!
|
 |
| As hard as it may seem to believe, all
elementary school aged children living in Nature's Haven
Parkland Estates & Adult Living Complex will be within walking
distance of an educational institution operated by one of our four
school boards. No long bus trips will be necessary. Going to
school will be such a joy for your children. And with the
growing population base, you will not have to worry about any
of the schools being in danger of closing. |
| The growth of Valley East as a
community is reflected in the tremendous number of
schools that are operating throughout the town.
There are a total of 15 different elementary and
secondary schools in Valley East. You can find out
more about the schools by going to the link to the
right. |
