The Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre has been
in operation since 1983 and provides the 25,000 residents of Valley East
with a wide range of fitness and cultural options.

With almost 50 full- and part-time staff on hand to serve the more than 2000 members, local
residents are in for a real treat when they step inside the complex.
Jerry Lynch, Aquatic and Recreation Centre Co-ordinator of the
Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre in Hanmer, and Anne Gervais,
Facility Pool Operator, are shown in Anne's office discussing
some of the exciting new programs that have begun at the
Centre this September. Both Anne and Jerry are extremely
pleased with the registrations for this session and have seen
significant growth in the use of the facility in all
areas.
Anne, who started out working as a lifeguard at the Centre
in 2002, was appointed to her current role in May 2006.
Jerry has been the Aquatic and Recreation Centre Co-ordinator
since 2003.
