Anyone who is planning on retiring within the next ten years, or to anyone who is already retired will be amazed at the opportunities which exist in the Greater Sudbury Area. 

People living in the Greater Toronto and Barrie Areas of southern Ontario who are either close to retirement age, or who have recently retired, tend to be looking for the same things that people from all over the country are looking for at this age in their life.

Some are looking to settle into a much more peaceful environment, but they do not want to sacrifice the conveniences of a big city. 

For example, some people are looking for a career change when they retire from their primary career. With a bit of money saved up and equity in their current home, many of these people look into opening a new small business.  

A person living in the north end of Toronto could sell his home there; purchase a home in the Greater Sudbury Area for much less than his home sold for in Toronto; take the profit from the sale of his former home, plus savings that have been accrued over the years, and have enough to start up his own business in Sudbury. 

Retired people are also looking for plenty of variety in terms of recreation and entertainment. It is clear to everyone that Sudbury has a multitude of recreation options to satisfy every taste. Our outdoor facilities are second to none and we have plenty of indoor recreational centers. Our golf courses are popular with all ages, but we have several which are designed for seniors.

Health care is excellent in the Greater Sudbury Area and is going to get even better with the construction of the Regional Hospital and the attracting of new family physicians to the region. The Northern Ontario Medical School will also be viewed favourably by retired men and women.

People who come from the "big city" become accustomed to the "big retail outlets". A person moving to the Greater Sudbury Area will find that we too have our major retail outlets. very much like the south.
