| The Greater Sudbury Area has an
excellent variety of educational institutions offering a wide
range of programs in academic, professional and skilled
trades. The lack of available spaces in Universities and Colleges,
coupled with the increasing demand for graduates with skilled trades bodes
well for local institutions. As students in other parts of Ontario search
for space, their eyes will be turned northward. What they will discover
will truly amaze them. Not only do we have every type of training
available, but graduates will also find an increasing number of
opportunities for employment following graduation. |

| Laurentian University: President Judith
Woodsworth stated that Sudbury has a good community spirit,
but we need to work to improve its reputation and the reputation
of the university. She stated also that there are many students
who would like to attend Laurentian, but they do not known
anything about the area. The university will have a better chance
of recruiting faculty because of the city’s unique lifestyle,
but she says that the community needs to do a better job of making
people aware of the Greater Sudbury Area. Laurentian will double
its first year enrolment in 2003-2004 by accepting 800 new
students. |
