AFTER THE WHISTLE.COM
Our flagship hockey web site, www.afterthewhistle.com,
has attracted international attention from as far away as Australia and
Finland. It's unique perspective on the game of hockey has provided a
refreshing look at the game and is helping visitors better understand what
is happening to minor hockey today.
A spin-off print publication, AFTER THE WHISTLE, THE ULTIMATE HOCKEY
HANDBOOK, was published in the fall of
2003. The handbook was developed with the same philosophy found on the After The Whistle web site,
and proved to be a valuable handbook for parents and coaches.
The entire text of the handbook as well as a full-length feature hockey
book, 'FOR THE SAKE OF THE GAME, HOCKEY WITHOUT THE SILVER LINING' are
also posted on After The Whistle.
CAREER
PLANNING
COMBINATION OF CLASSROOM PRESENTATIONS AND CAREER
PLANNING WEB SITE TO IMPROVE THE IMAGE OF BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS
AMONG STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS
Between March 2004 and
January 2005 inclusive, I (Robert Kirwan) personally visited most of the secondary schools
in the Greater Sudbury and North Bay areas, delivering more than 140 in-class
career planning presentations to students from Grades 10 through 12 in
fulfillment of my responsibilities as the Secondary School Representative
of CDI College Sudbury Campus.
During that period of
time I gathered information from a variety of sources as well as from my
own experiences. As a result of my findings, I have decided to become an
Independent Career Planning Specialist whose sole purpose is to help
students from Grades 6 through 12 prepare a personal plan which will
increase the odds of their successful graduation and entry into a
satisfying career as a young adult.
Schools in the community of Valley East will be first offered a chance to
receive these classroom presentations during the fall of 2005. In addition, School Councils will be able to invite
me to make a special presentation to parents.
